Peter Huntoon has been painting professionally since 1994. A lifelong passion for both art and his native state of Vermont are evident in his work. His distinctive award-winning paintings in oil and watermedia feature strong composition, innovative color, and enthusiastic brushwork. Educated in Vermont and Colorado. Huntoon received his BA in Art from Castleton University. Peter is a founding signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society. He has been featured in Vermont Magazine and WCAX TV’s “Made in Vermont” series. Peter’s “A Day in Vermont” plein-air painting video series now airs regularly on Vermont PBS. Along with his artist wife Mareva Millarc, Peter lives and works from his studio in Middletown Springs, Vermont. His work is represented in public and private collections around the world.
Excerpt from his Artist Statement:
Home is where the heart is. Community spirit and authenticity motivate my work. I am ceaselessly inspired by Vermont’s integrity, diversity, and capricious nature. Capturing her subtle and sensational beauty in rich juicy paint is like roping the wind, brilliantly impossible. Her mysterious moods and change of seasons lead me on!
The Sparkle Barn echoes Peter’s love of community, and invites the public to come and enjoy this free
We are opening the upstairs on the weekends for people to come have some coffee, relax and maybe be inspired. Keep in mind, this is very DIY - a Keurig and some cream - nothing fancy - but we wanted to offer a space for customers and neighbors to take a seat and relax for a while. We have wi-fi, too. Plug in and maybe you'll be inspired! I always like a change of scenery when I'm working on a writing project! Coffee is donation based ($1 suggested), Space is free. Open during our normal hours - Saturday 10 - 6 Sunday Noon - 5
We had to take a little break from hosting classes and events upstairs to do some building upgrades -- but we are finished upgrading! Yeah! And that means the fun can begin! We will have news very soon!
Come join us for a Christmas day movie! Bring some left-overs and have some festive fun with neighbors!
